Aaron Bleackley cuts every Wild Gears set on his own laser cutter from a single sheet of clear acrylic in Vancouver: geared drawing kits for spirograph-style art, from the CAD$20 Travel set and CAD$49 Compact, Hoops and Encyclopedic sets up to CAD$99 Full Page, Enormous, Paisley and Mandala Maker sets and the fourteen-page Encyclopedic 3 (CAD$99 a page or CAD$1,120 complete), each sheet yielding a matching ring for every gear plus non-circular gears in squares, triangles, pentagons and, in his words, "stranger shapes".

Wild Gears sets are a drawing toy, described on the site as "the geared drawing toy for the 21st century", which puts them on HTS 9503.00.00, the toys and puzzles line on the CBP Section 338 list carrying a 50% additional duty on entry to the United States since August 22, 2026. On a CAD$99 large gear set that is close to CAD$50 in duty before shipping, on a shop whose base prices Bleackley says he has held for more than a decade. He had already told American customers in February 2026 that "all packages are being charged a 10% duty before shipment" and that he collects it at checkout as a separate line item; the Section 338 duty is charged on top of the ordinary rate. · content.govdelivery.com, Aug 22, 2026
