Small Canadian businesses hit by targeted US tariffs. Buy from them.

On July 20, 2026 the United States used Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, a provision never used for tariffs before, to add a 50% duty to 554 lines of Canadian goods. The duty took effect on August 22, 2026, with no exception for goods already on the way. A CUSMA certificate of origin does not exempt them. White House fact sheet.

The list is oddly specific: hockey sticks, horse hair, honey, fur, wigs, dolls and puzzles, Christmas ornaments, plywood, and from September 15, furniture and beaver pelts. Maple syrup is not on it. Many of the makers hit are one- and two-person shops. Each listing says what they make, which line hits it and where that comes from, and links straight to their own shop.

How we list

We find makers from public sources: their own shop, a news story, or a note they posted about US orders. Each listing names the tariff line with its HTS code, quotes the evidence, and shows the date we last checked. We do not use certification language. A listing is either Community-listed by volunteers from public sources or Owner-claimed, once the owner has confirmed it by email. Any maker can ask to be removed and we act within 48 hours.
