If we’re shut out of the U.S. for an extended period, that could be really challenging in terms of regaining those lost sales. And that could take yearsSource: cp24.com, Sep 9, 2026
Moosehead's packaged beer (HTS 2203.00.00, "Beer made from malt") can no longer ship to the US: the US import ban on listed Canadian alcohol took effect September 29, 2026, after a 50% Section 338 duty that applied from August 22, 2026. For Moosehead that closes a long-standing market: CBC reported that "Moosehead Breweries sends 15 per cent of their production to the U.S. The brewery sends products to all 50 states but mostly along the east coast." Under the August duty the company kept shipping at a loss to hold shelf space, and president and CEO Andrew Oland warned that an extended shutout could take years to recover from. Moosehead has said it will not move production to a US facility.
You must be of legal drinking age in your province to buy alcohol. Rules on shipping alcohol between provinces vary, so buy from the maker directly or through your provincial liquor store. We only link to makers; nothing is sold on this site.
In their own words
We’ve been selling Moosehead in the U.S. for almost 50 years, and we’ve built an incredibly loyal American customer base, but navigating a 50 per cent tariff puts a massive burden on our ability to compete fairly in the U.S. market
