About
Support Our Makers is a volunteer-run directory. It exists because nobody else was organizing Canadian makers by the tariff that hit them.
No money
Nothing is bought or sold on this site. Every listing links to the maker’s own shop and the sale happens there. Makers are never charged to be listed. There are no ads, no affiliate links and no paid placements. If traffic ever grows enough that hosting costs matter, we will say so here first, and any affiliate link would be labelled inline where it appears.
Who
One person in Canada, some evenings, and a set of scheduled scripts that search for new makers, watch the tariff list for changes, and re-check shop links each month. A person reads every listing before it goes live. How we list has the details.
Contact
hello@supportourmakers.ca. If you are a maker, the fastest route is the Claim this listing button on your own page, or the application form if you are not listed yet. Reporters and researchers are welcome to write; the dataset of tariff lines is public and we can share it.
Privacy
We keep the email you give us for a claim, a removal request or an application so we can reply and so an owner can sign in. That is the only personal information we collect, and we handle it under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We do not publish it, sell it or add it to any list. Data is hosted in the United States on Vercel and Supabase. Ask at the address above to see or delete what we hold.
The leaf
Our maple leaf is our own drawing: rounder lobes, blunter notches, a short stem. It is not the National Flag’s leaf, which is protected, and we do not use the flag.
Elbows up. Wallets out.
