A notice sits at the top of the shop's home page — "Notice: Shipping to the USA and Europe is paused due to postal and tariff changes" — and the FAQ's September 2026 update explains that "Due to significant new US tariffs, orders on many items made in Canada now incur very high duty fees", so on a $45 CAD advent puzzle quest an American buyer would owe roughly $22 in duty on top. Jess stopped shipping south rather than send parcels into that.

Hi, I'm Jess! I've been passionate about storytelling since childhood. What started as a search for a creative way to entertain at my sister's birthday led me to the captivating world of Murder Mysteries. Then one day, I had an idea: what about a 24‑day advent calendar where each day reveals a new puzzle to solve? I personally handle every step of the process, from crafting the story, creating puzzles, hiding pieces of evidence, and assembling each game. My guiding principles: Learning through play I'm deeply passionate about blending education and fun, and my games blend education with fun. Nothing makes me happier than hearing that a child wanted to play my advent first thing every morning. I mean, if I got a kid to be excited about English and Math, I am a happy gal. Woohoo! Sustainability My games are primarily paper-based and recyclable. I ship in cardboard boxes with paper or corn‑based packing materials, and I host hints and solutions on my website to avoid unnecessary waste. Inclusivity As a woman-led business, I am a huge advocate for inclusivity. The eagled-eye player may notice my games are often gender-neutral, my characters come from diverse backgrounds, and I include written text whenever sound‑based evidence appears. My vision for the future: More games, of course! I can't wait to share more mysteries, puzzles, and adventures with you. Thank you for being part of my storytelling journey.
- What changed
- I effectively lost my entire global market, which previously made up the majority of my sales. In addition, printing costs have increased substantially. Even with local printing, factors like rising gas prices have driven up the cost of paper. Because of these uncertainties, I’ve reduced the number of games I produced this year.
