MERIT is a brewery, kitchen and bottle shop on James Street North in Hamilton that calls itself "5th ingredient" brewers, adding fruit, herbs, spices or tea to many batches. Its cans include the flagship Young Rival Hazy IPA, Strange Animal IPA made with Canadian-grown Sasquatch hops, Forever Young Pale Ale, SVP French table beer, Beneath The Noise dry stout, Weather Station ESB, Electric Ambition amber lager and the WAVES fruited sours.
MERIT's packaged beer (HTS 2203.00.00, "Beer made from malt") can no longer ship to the US: the US import ban on listed Canadian alcohol took effect September 29, 2026, after a 50% Section 338 duty that applied from August 22, 2026.
