When you combine low production and low prices, it doesn’t bode well. And then when you add a tariff into the mix, that hurts again,Source: content.govdelivery.com, Aug 22, 2026
Nixon Honey's creamed jars and bulk drums are natural honey under HTS 0409.00.00, which has carried a 50% US duty since August 22, 2026. A large share of the crop goes south: Alberta's agri-food export catalogue lists the farm's "Current Export Markets: Japan, United States", and the Albertan reported in 2025 that Nixon "exports to the U.S. anywhere from roughly one-third to a half of the honey it produces". The farm has not published anything about what the 2026 duty has done to those shipments.

Speaking to the Albertan during the first round of US tariff threats, Nixon set out what a duty does to a honey farm already facing low prices.
The U.S. is really our biggest export market for the Canadian honey industry. For ourselves, personally, we do export some there,
Kevin Nixon, co-owner of Nixon Honey Farm · stalbertgazette.com, Mar 3, 2025
Nixon described how much of the farm's honey depends on American buyers.

Made in Canada
The farm says the honey is its own from hive to jar: "Most of our production is in the white honey category and is produced primarily from fields of canola and alfalfa, all from our own bees in Alberta", and "We conduct all operations within our own facility, including processing and packaging of the honey produced by our bees, and do not outsource."
