In their own words

  • We're likely going to have so much honey here in Canada that producers are going to be fighting to move it, and that drives the price down.

Sasha Howland (Howland's Honey), quoted by Andrea Moss, SaskToday/Local Journalism Initiative · gx94radio.com, Sep 4, 2026

Sasha Howland says the real threat isn't lost direct sales but Canadian honey that used to go to the US piling up at home, pushing down what all Saskatchewan beekeepers, including her own farm, can get for their crop.

  • We're in a blessed position because we do sell under our own label and we do have a consumer base. Maybe we'll pack more under our own product and look for more places to sell it.

Sasha Howland (Howland's Honey), quoted by Andrea Moss, SaskToday/Local Journalism Initiative · gx94radio.com, Sep 4, 2026

Howland says her farm's own retail brand gives it more room to adapt than beekeepers who depend purely on bulk export contracts.

  • We have to try to meet it with solidarity. If we can find ways to support local, we can find ways to get through this.

Howland frames buying Canadian as the industry's main defence against the US tariff.
