The Newfoundland Distillery Company makes Newfoundland Whisky, seaweed and cloudberry gins, chaga and Gunpowder & Rose rums, vodkas and aquavit from locally grown barley and foraged Newfoundland botanicals in Clarke's Beach.
The Newfoundland Distillery Company's whisky, gin, rum, vodka and aquavit are Canadian spirits under HTS 2208.30.60, 2208.50.00, 2208.40.40, 2208.60.20 and 2208.90.75, which carried a 50% US duty from August 22, 2026 and, since September 29, 2026, can no longer be imported into the United States at all. The distillery’s own availability page names the USA among the markets it planned to sell into once it had reached customers across Canada, and its Newfoundland Whisky won a double gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.Source: whitehouse.gov, Sep 29, 2026
