Mark London sells Inuit art out of the 1886 Brome Lea house on Chemin Knowlton: serpentine carvings such as Henry Evaluardjuk’s Fox and Padlaya Qiatsuq’s Owl, and original works on paper — Kenojuak Ashevak lithographs at $1,500, Saimaiyu Akesuk stonecuts, Ooloosie Saila etchings with chine collé at $800, Janet Kigusiuq drawings — with textiles and Iroquois sculpture alongside them.

Original sculptures are HTS 9703.90.00, original engravings, prints and lithographs are HTS 9702.90.00 and hand-drawn works are HTS 9701.91.00, all on the CBP Section 338 list, so every serpentine carving, stonecut and drawing the gallery ships to an American collector carries a 50% duty on top of the price, in effect since August 22, 2026. Ahead of the deadline London cut prices 15% through Aug. 14 to move work across the border first, and told Nunatsiaq News on August 11, 2026 that he expects the American side of a market he already called diminishing to shrink further.

The gallery’s owner sets out the three ways he expects American demand for Inuit art to fall away once the duty applies.
Most of our inventory falls into two categories: sculpture and prints and drawings, works on paper, but I do occasionally have textile works or ceramic pieces.

The Inuit work that makes up most of the inventory is carved and printed in the Canadian Arctic and bought through the community co-ops — “Artists bring their work into their local coop and negotiate a price. The co-op then pays them”, London told Brome County News, and “the co-op becomes a distributor of Inuit art dealing with galleries” — while a smaller run of American graphics and sculpture sits alongside it.
