HTS chapter 22 · Section 338

The alcohol lines: every code, the 50% and the ban

Every American tariff line on Canadian beer, wine, cider and spirits, copied from the official lists. Each carried 50% from August 22, 2026; the ones the ban annex names may not enter the United States since Sep 29, 2026.1,2

How to read it

  • 49 lines are banned. The annex lists 53 codes, because for whisky and liqueurs it names the ten-digit breakouts under one eight-digit line.2
  • Packaged goods only on 28 of those codes: the annex says they cover only alcohol products that are packaged in bottles, cans, boxes, kegs, or other similar direct-to-consumption containers. Bulk shipments on those lines, a tanker of wine or spirits for bottling in the United States, are not banned, and remain at 50%.2,1
  • Two whisky and liqueur breakouts in containers over 4 litres came off the 50% list on September 15, before the ban, and are shown as retired.3 (2208.30.6085, 2208.70.0060)
  • 2208.90.05, 2208.90.80 sit in the motor-vehicle group rather than the alcohol one, at 50%, and are not in the alcohol ban annex (bitters not fit to drink and other non-beverage spirits).1,2
  • Non-alcoholic beer (2202.91) is on the dairy list and the dairy ban, so it is on the full list, not here.4
